Pretty Damn Awesome

Just like Miami Shark, this game is really fun to play. Although it is practically a clone of Miami shark, with some new art in some places, it still has a lot of playability. The graphics are nice to look at, and there was no lag for me at all during those explosions which was great.

I like the idea of the game being in a different setting, but imagine if you just made 1 game, with different levels(locations) rather than a bunch of separate ones? Maybe for the next one make 3 seperate locations you can choose from.

The button mashing is still really fun and i don't know if the aircraft actually fights against you or not, but that would be a neat feature if it wasn't already there. It would give it a bit more of a challenge.

Art is great, as the last one. Some really nice line work and the coloring is also quite nice. It isn't too detailed, but it is noticeable that time was put into drawing it. Because you can just hold the bite button down, the sound gets kind of annoying, but i guess that is the price for holding it down rather than pressing it only when you need it.

All in all, good game. Hopefully more ( a little more original ) games in the future.

Fun and Creative

While this was almost exactly the same thing as your gun game, i still feel it has originality left in it. The game play is different because the bow bounces off the wall and you can damage the target that way along with the fact the bow is harder to aim than the gun.

The challenges are quite simple for the first few. But they start to get challenging as you change your bow. The one problem i see with this is there is no description on how to do the challenges. For the second one, i am completely lost on what to do.

The campaign is sort of repetitive, but it is still playable even if you play it for a while. This game gets frustrating, but you can still enjoy the aspect of it. I think the bow bouncing off the wall and still damaging targets makes the game a bit more easy also. Maybe you could have incorporated some sort of mode that the arrows don't bounce off the walls? But rather they stick? I don't know...

The choices of bows you get is pretty simple, but the upgrade feature is really nice. I think this is fine because the game shouldn't take to long to beat anyway so good choice there.

The music for the menu is a really nice loop and it has a "bow-type" game feel to it for some reason. I like how there is no music during the actual game play to distract you from play. Oh, and the bow sound when shooting is nice in quality.

Hope to see at least 1 more of these games from you, but try not to milk the series dry. Good job, loved it :)

Fun to Play...for a bit

This game was so fun when i started to play it, but as i kept playing it started to lose its value. Every time i was encountering another "level" after bumping into a monster, it felt so repetitive.

Sometimes, the monsters would jump before you could attack, and this would cause me to lose tons of health. I eventually got the hang of it, but sometimes it still happened. I don't know if this is my own error or just the way the game was. Either way, it was semi-annoying, but i got over it.

The music, the art, and the animation were all fine. The level up system was really cool because as you level your armor, your armor actually changes in game. The spells were really hard to use because i couldn't find a real way to put the spell into one direction really. Sometimes i would be facing one way, and the spell would mainly fly behind me and not even touch the enemy. But, when it did hit it did tons of damage and it was really helpful.

The character style is really cool. The non-attached arms is a style i really like and the character design reminded me of Kirby. The boss fights were fun, and easy enough to get a hang of. I died a few times when first playing the boss in the desert that makes those hairballs, but i got it in the end.

Keep these games coming, they are original and i like your style of art. It is simple, but still stands out really well compared to other styles.

Pretty Snazzy

This game was simple, yet made you think through out playing it. It reminded me of the game Shift, but it was original because it was different. The idea of switching worlds to get onto different platforms is getting really popular, and i can see this game did it great.

The character design was awesome and i really enjoyed the pixel feel to the game. The acceptance of user submitted levels is great, and it also takes the use of a Newgrounds feature to display the levels right on the page!

Because you can rate levels, you can select which ones you want to play, depending on the difficulty which is a great feature to have. The game played long enough, even though there were not too many levels, it still allowed me to play it without getting bored.

The sounds for the game really fit well, and i thought they were perfect to match the style of play. In the end, the game is really well put together and i think i might have to replay it because it was just that good.

Really good, and i can't wait for more from you :)

Disappointed

When i saw this on the front page i was super excited to see what you added to it, but i was completely let down. First, i noticed the huge loading time. Even though it didn't take long to load on my internet and i can understand the game has a lot in it, but when i was playing it i didn't see why the file size is so big. Whether it be the audio making it high quality or the animation(which wasn't too complicated), it is a really big file.

Now to the actual meat of the game. I was super excited to start playing my song after i made it. There are tons of things to choose from, but i wish there was maybe an option to copy the same riff and make it go for a few lengths (If there was i missed it, sorry) But when i started to actually play my song, the game was horrible.

The controls were very odd, and it felt weird playing them. Then, every time i was about to play a song, two player mode was always on. I don't know why, but i don't think you should be able to choose controls for a second player being in a single player mode, it just doesn't look right.

The actual game play seemed sort of like a guitar hero styled game, only 100 times as hard and, like i said before, the controls made it even harder. The music riffs were nice and all, but the game play just didn't cut it.

I played for about 15-20 minutes before finally giving up. The difficulty is way too hard, and i love rhythm games, but this one just felt really difficult. Why you may think, "Oh he is just giving a bad review because he sucked at the game." that is not the case, i am just saying what i really see.

I hope you can update the game or something, to drop the difficulty a little even on the easiest mode. Or, for an even better fix, make it so we can see the buttons before the come so we have time to get ready for them. It is a split second before you need to push them, and you have to be practically on target other wise it is a miss.

Good luck next time.

Short and Sweet

This game didn't take long at all to beat, but it was fun. I mean, it was of medium length, not TOO short but still shorter than most games.

I really enjoyed it though. I loved all of the references made in the game and i thought it was really clever. The music part transitioned really well, i was really surprised on how well it blended.

The character design is also neat. The main problem i feel with this game is half of the levels are just jumping off the side. I understand that there were a lot of levels and all along with characters, but jumping off the edge kinda gets boring. The levels that were not just jumping off the edge were quite relieving.

The different characters were also nice to see, at least none of them were the same. It was really creative in that aspect to say the least.

Very creative.

I can't enjoy it

While the graphics look very pretty, i just can't enjoy this game. I usually love puzzle games and all that jazz, but this game just isn't enjoyable.

One of the big things for me is, you respawn right in front of the hole you just fell into. This is kind of a problem because it gets annoying. I take one more step and boom i just died from where i previously died before.

Another thing, is sometimes your character jumps shorter, i don't know if this was intended because i tried to only tap the jump key and he still jumps max, so i'm guessing it is a bug. Also, the jumping feels awkward and unnatural.

Don't get me wrong, the graphics are very superb, but the game play just doesn't have what it takes in my eyes.

It was a very good concept, but i think it was just poorly executed. Another thing is, while it may be repetitive, it just seems like i'm doing the same things over and over. The unlocking and locking of doors gets really boring, really fast.

As for the respawning thing, maybe you can respawn the person in a safer spot rather than where they just fell in. Because i noticed that in some places you get trapped by monsters and you get hit even if you jump over them, which is frustrating.

In short, good graphics, but poorly executed game play.

EntropicOrder responds:

I appreciate the thorough review Aero. Yeah, you definitely can't use an arrow right from where you respawned or you'll be right back in the hole. You have to step back or immediately jump. I agree that it would have been nice to have him respawn a few steps back like most games do, but there weren't enough holes in the game to justify that effort for me.

Jump height is constant regardless of how long the button is held, though ideally I would have made it dependent. However, if you hit your head on anything, then his jump will not go much higher if at all so you have to avoid hitting your head. When you hit your head you will not fall immediately though, and you will glide in the air for about as long as you would have stayed in the air with a max height jump just without ascending any further. It is working as expected, but I agree that occassionally it isn't extremely obvious that you've hit your head. Also, when getting blown by a fan up in the air there is a condition that can cause you to not reach your max jump peak, but it doesn't happen often.

Sorry to hear it didn't jive for you.

Breathtaking - Maybe?

One thing before i write my review, i purposely watched Madness Consternation before this to see if it was similar, and indeed it was pretty much a gamer version of the flash.

I loved the mouse aiming option, while it made it easier, i beat it with the normal aiming the first time. The madness mode isn't too hard, but it still put up more of a fight than the starting mode.

The graphics, what really can i say? Mindchamber did an awesome job, and Krinkel's touch was just another way of making the game even better. Tom, great job on the scripting, i haven't encountered any bugs yet.

As you said in the Author's comments, it took you thirty days to complete this. And i must say, it definitely shows for it. Everything was fantastic. The boss fight was pretty damn bad ass. I liked how you also included to huge madness guy with the nail / stake things in his head as a mini-boss. His shot gun was sort of slow and easy to dodge, but i guess that was the point.

The character design, done by Mindchamber, in the style of Krinkels were absolutely beautiful.

While last years game was short, this one was longer with more interaction. I really hope next September there is a sequel to this.

Zombie Shootin' Fun!

This game is awesome! I love the whole aspect of running away from the zombies while shooting at them. The aiming can be slightly annoying since your range is only so far, but that is great because it brings a challenge to the game.

Though it may be repetitive, i still think it is awesome and i can keep on playing this multiple times. The weapons are great, i love using the sniper to blow multiple zombies away at the same time.

The one thing that brought my thoughts about this game down, were if a zombie was too close to you, say right in front of your barrel, it seems the hit test stops it from doing damage to the zombie. So it would force you to move, then kill the zombie.

I am sure there is a way to fix this. Just a heads up for the programmer.

All in all, this game is awesome and it was a nice treat. The medals were challenging, but not to hard to achieve. The whole concept of the game is well rounded.

Keep it up :)

Thanks for the great review mate!

So much fun!

I have played this game tons of times it is amazing. The idea is great, i haven't seen anything like it actually. It is original, the game play is fun, and there aren't really any bugs that really stand out.

The only thing i found troublesome in this game was sometimes i would try to dive under the water for a high jump, and i would come up with only a little puny jump :(

It's nothing too big, but it was just sort of annoying. Maybe you can impliment some sort of marker to show the distance you need to go for a deep dive?

Now that i think about it, it isn't that big really. It's just something to take note of i guess.

The sounds in the game were great, and i love how you implemented a little bit of good old fashioned button mashing in there, that was awesome. I also liked how in the background you can see a UFO attacking, it was a good laugh and really creative.

I don't really know if i want to see more similar games like this in the future, because i feel as if it would ruin the specialness of this game. So, all i can say is keep up the good work and you have talent.
